About

Since launching in 2020, Powering Futures has worked with more than 3,000 young people and engaged more than 150 Scottish businesses.

45 secondary schools across Scotland are currently participating in Powering Futures’ embedded educational programme, with a further 100 schools registered for academic year 2024/25 – that’s nearly 40% of schools in the country.

Businesses and volunteers are now partnered with schools and engaging with them at regular intervals throughout.

Of the young workers who have taken part in the programme in businesses, many have been promoted - increasing influence on their company’s sustainability processes.

Vitally, many participating businesses have implemented solutions presented by their young colleagues demonstrating the power of authentic engagement, such as Lothian Buses, Booth Welsh, Scottish Water and Petroineos.
