BACKGROUND

Reflecting on his school experience, Andrew noted that he never thrived due to the lack of hands-on activities and the heavy focus on academics, which did not align with his interests.

During his apprenticeship at the Grangemouth Refinery, Andrew was asked to participate in the Powering Futures Workplace programme, where apprentices were challenged with making the refinery a more sustainable environment.

Initially, Andrew was sceptical and reluctant to participate. However, upon meeting the Powering Future team and gaining a better understanding of our aims, his attitude changed and he quickly became engaged with the programme.

This challenged helped to push me out there in the working world, being connected to a such an enthusiastic team has ignited a passion I never expected to have. Getting me to want to make a change in the world is a commendable achievement from Powering Futures.
